I have been concerned about the nonbelievers in Helena and Hannaford's effort to reach them. A church needs to be proactive in trying to reach the lost. It needs to disciple, train, and prepare them to do the same. This is the great commission that we as believers have been given to reach, teach, and do it again repeatedly.

A plan of action designed to help our church achieve that goal has been developed. The pastors, elders, and deacons have read the plan and provided valuable input. However, I want a cross-section of people from the church to read through the plan and become involved in a study group to make it as inviting and Hannaford-friendly as possible.

I value the views of all ages. The cultural ideas of the younger generations are often different than mine. Input from those in their mid-thirties or below is also very important. Please consider helping; your perspective will be valued.

A New Time, A New Series, and A New Pastor

Changes are occurring this week at Hannaford. One change is temporary, another about three months long, and one is long term. The temporary change is the TIME CHANGE. This coming Sunday is the annual Daylight Savings time change. Set your clocks AHEAD on Saturday night so that you will not be late for church. You won’t want to miss this Sunday!

The three month change is the length in which we expect a new message series on Moses to take. This is a very practical series that will help everyone. Moses is called by some the greatest man among mere men in the whole history of the world. This week you will hear a personal story from one of our men that will be encouraging.

The long term change is Worship Pastor, Ed Melendez. After several months of praying and searching, God brought an excellent worship leader to Hannaford. If you had the opportunity to be here in January when he visited, you know what I am talking about. We welcome Ed and look forward to his ministry at Hannaford.

Angie Luchau has filled in as Worship Coordinator for the last four months. She has done a great job as coordinator; we are thankful for her faithful service.

So set your clocks ahead, expect to be challenged, and worship with us in way that will encourage you.

Summer Children's Schedule

Come and join the fun!

While we are still waiting for all the snow to melt, we can look forward to the warm days of summer. Our summer activity dates have been set. The grades listed below are the grades students will be entering in the fall.

Vacation Bible School, June 13-17. Join us as we learn about Psalm 139. Children age 4 to 6th grade.

Drama Camp, June 27-30. Students will prepare a musical that they will perform on Thursday evening for family and friends. Children 2nd grade and up.

Junior Camp, July 6-9. A great adventure at Mizpah as we learn about God in a spectacular setting. Students in 4th-7th grade.

Make sure to mark these dates on your calendar. We are also looking for volunteers to help in each event.

Edward & Jessica Melendez

This Sunday, January 9, promises to be an exciting one for sure. Edward Melendez will be here from California to interview for the Worship Pastor position. Edward will lead the morning worship.

Searching for a staff position is difficult and time consuming. It becomes an exciting time when we narrow our search down to a single person and have an opportunity for the Hannaford family to meet him. Edward will be accompanied by his wife and two children.

Edward, in addition to his musical abilities, is very proficient in computer skills and has graphic design capabilities. He could be an excellent addition to our staff.

Please don't miss this occasion to meet Edward and experience worship under his leadership. I hope to see you Sunday.

Farewell

Church Family,

It is with mixed emotions I compose this letter, both heavy heartedness and joy and excitement for what the future may hold.

About three weeks ago I received a call from a very close friend and mentor to come and serve with him in ministry in Grants Pass, Oregon. After a visit to him in July of this year with the purpose of consulting on some audio/video for a building remodel (during which I led the church he pastors in worship), they created a worship pastor position. He expressed the desire for me to fill that role. Julia and I have been praying for weeks about this decision, and we have decided to accept the calling and move to Oregon to serve the Redwood Christian Church as their worship pastor. Our last Sunday with you at HSBC will be October 31st.

Please know that this was not an easy decision for us. We have made several good friends here, my ministry is thriving at Hannaford, and we were looking forward to many years of service to you and the Lord at Hannaford Street Bible Church. However when God calls (and this may be difficult to understand if you have never served in vocational ministry), you can either fight it as Moses did at first at the burning bush or accept it (no matter how difficult it may be), embrace it, and trust God that He knows what is best for us.

We are not running from anything or anyone here at HSBC. I have searched for many reasons to say no to God in this matter, but His calling is persistent. The non-spiritual side of me cringes at the thought of having to move AGAIN for the sixth time in four years, starting over in ministry, being even farther away from immediate family in Indiana, and leaving our dear friends in Helena. Every time I pray about it, I am getting a green light from the Holy Spirit; it has become evident that God is pursuing us in this calling.

Our time at HSBC will remain in our hearts as a blessing. Your generosity to our family, both as church and individually, has truly been an incredible blessing from God! We will treasure the friendships we made here for our lifetimes, forged in the fire of ministry! We pray God’s richest blessings on you and on HSBC. You are doing a wonderful work in Helena; we have been privileged to be a part of it.

Opportunities and Challenges

The fall always generates new schedules largely because of school for the kids. Vacations are generally over, and the routine begins for all of us. This is usually the time when people get back into the routine of church. That also means the church begins many of its programs, such as AWANA, MOPS, and new Bible studies.

To help generate a renewed schedule in church, this Sunday is National Back to Church Sunday. We ask everyone to make every effort to be in church this Sunday, September 12, and bring a friend. This is a great opportunity.

The immediate challenge is one of a financial nature. We sent a notice to everyone asking for an extra financial gift by this coming Sunday. The spring and summer have been taxing on the church budget. Giving has been down to the point of putting some of our ministries in jeopardy.

We need your prayers and gifts concerning this matter. This is your church; we are frugal in the use of church finances. But in these desperate times in our world, the church needs to be stronger than ever in proclaiming the message of Jesus.

Please take advantage of the opportunities and help shoulder the challenges here at Hannaford Street.

I hope that everyone in America would understand that this nation was established primarily for religious freedom. We have been blessed for over 250 years to be able to worship without government interference. That liberty is celebrated on the fourth day of July each year.

This year that date falls on a Sunday. We will celebrate our freedom in a variety of ways.

Morning begins at 9:00 a.m. with a full breakfast. People whose last names begin with A-M are asked to bring a fruit dish; N-Z are asked to bring a breakfast meat dish. In addition, pancakes will be served.
Some patriotic venues will be presented to remember our
great country.
ONLY ONE service will be held this Sunday! Both first and second services will meet at 10:00 a.m.
Scott Yebba will bring a message that promises to challenge.
It should be a packed house with excitement and
great preaching.

Getting Caught in the Current

We live in a fluid world, although the word change outside of politics is not a theme used readily for advertising. Many people fear change, yet our culture is constantly changing.

We are exposed to many new products and recreational adventures because of an unquenchable human appetite for happiness. It is a satisfaction that is never met by change of scenery, partners, increased income, or any other external alteration.

Real satisfaction and peace in a world of shifting values without Christ is a hopeless journey. This is a truth that Christians understand, yet fewer are actually endorsing in their lifestyles. We get caught up in the vortex of human pursuit for happiness which we think is only found in the next new thing.

This Sunday I will touch on this troubling issue. The current habits of Christians are to convince themselves that they maintain a strong relationship with God on a flex schedule. Lord, I will read your Word when I have time, I will attend church when it fits my schedule, and I will serve others when convenient. We discount the seriousness of God concerning our spiritual relationship with Him.

I am deeply concerned over Christians buying into the general disrespect for God. My dear people, don’t believe that you can make it through life easily with a part-time relationship with your Savior.

What would happen if there was no church? What would happen if the church ceased to exist?

If you are not sure how to answer these two questions, you need to come to church as we explore this matter. We place the church right behind the Pillar of the Bible and the Pillar of God, not because we need to sustain a job, but because it is so important to believers. Jesus started the church; He must have had a good reason for its existence.

In order for you to be able to defend your belief in the church, come and learn the truth about it. The church is more important than many Christians realize.

Do Your Friend a Favor

Invite a friend to come to church with you this week. Easter is a day that many people think is important, and many are open to coming to church. You will both enjoy the service and some things that are planned here at Hannaford. It will be well worth your time. In fact you will do a disservice to your friend IF you don’t extend an invitation to come with you to church. April 4 should be the best day our church has experienced in a long time!

In addition to our annual breakfast served between 9:30am to 10:30am, there will be some very special music. For the first time in a very long time a 25-30 member choir will be singing.

Easter is a time of the year in which people give serious thought to the meaning of true Christianity. I will preach a message that revolves around this question, What keeps you alive? You might be surprised; it’s not something you hear very often. So do your friend a favor, ask him/her to come to church with you this Sunday.

Sunday's New Pillar of Faith—God

We are beginning another pillar this Sunday in the Pillars of Faith. Our new subject is God! This week I will teach from a verse that only has ten words; it is a verse that you may know quite well. However, I think God has given me some insights into this verse about Him that you may have never noticed.

I am excited about the message and believe you will have something to take home which will be beneficial in your Christian walk. If you couple this with your personal Bible study, I think you will begin to experience a newer relationship with God.

Our Christian walk should always be about Life Change. Don’t miss this week; it is hard to imagine anything that would be more important than to worship with us and be encouraged by this message.

Internet Safety Workshop

Teens and their parents are invited to a workshop on the topic of Internet Safety taking place on Wednesday, March 24, at HSBC (830 N. Hannaford, Helena). The workshop is scheduled during youth group, 6:30 to 8:30 pm.

Kevin Damuth will be teaching this workshop. He works for the FBI investigating internet crime and gives presentations on internet safety in schools. Since most, if not all students, use the internet on a daily basis, we believe this workshop will give them practical help in using e-mail, myspace, facebook, and other internet sources in a safe way. Parents will also gain helpful information about internet safety.

Easter is coming on April 4th this year, and we are excited to remember Christ’s death, His burial, and celebrate His resurrection! This year Worship Ministry is forming a worship choir called Harmony to participate in the Easter services, and we need you! The name “Harmony” comes from Psalm 133... “How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony!” This is a multi-generational choir, and all are welcome. Food for Thought and Health

Trust is a small word to spell, but a huge word to put into action. It means to put your faith in the ability of a person, a thing, or an organization to act on your behalf.

Some people's motto is "Trust no one, question everything." Caution can be a commendable attribute that can prevent accidents, mistakes, and traps. The Bible says to walk circumspectly in Ephesians 5:15. That means to take one step at a time, looking where you are going, to be careful.

We trust all sorts of things don't we? Without question we trust a chair to keep us from falling to the floor. We trust the food we eat to be safe; few people have food tasters. Many people trust the government to protect them and, in many cases, to provide for them. We all exercise trust in a variety of things or people.

What about God? Do we trust Him? We do for salvation because there is nothing we can do but trust Him to provide eternal life. But what about obedience to giving? God said, "Test me and see if I will not provide when you give." Mal. 3:10-11.

Nearly every January many Christians fail to trust God, but instead put off giving to God to pay Christmas bills. God did not put conditions on the trust me or test me in Malachi 3 when it came to the finances He allows us to have. It is not trust when we only give to God when extra money is available. In this case we don't really need to trust Him.

We rob ourselves of so many blessings when we fail to trust God in this area. We say this, not to increase church income, but to challenge your faith in one of the most difficult areas of one's life--money.

What Can One Person Do?

A Troubling World
When you watch the world news, it is easy to conclude that we live in unsettled times. This is especially true for people who are old enough to have seen the world years ago. While we do live in exciting times loaded with many opportunities, we see some dark clouds as well. In America we face a troubled financial front, a shrinking job market, sicknesses, and terrorism. The Bible is clear in the book of Timothy that dangerous times will come in the last days.

The Reality of Anxiety
It is easy to become anxious about these and other matters. This is especially true for people who have difficulty sleeping. It is easy to think about trying troubles as you are tossing in bed. It is also true if you get sick or extremely tired. Yes, troubling times can produce anxiety.

The Power of One
So what might we do? Is there a solution? As Christians we know that the Lord will take care of us, but how does that happen?

During times of trouble reading the Psalms is very helpful. But, perhaps, more helpful is prayer. Developing the habit of sincere, prolonged prayer is so helpful. It is the power of One.

James 5 tells us that Elijah prayed that it would not rain, and God stopped the rain for 3 years and 6 months. Men like Moses and Daniel, through prayer, saw God work in outstanding ways. An answer to a troubling world and anxiety is prayer. This is one reason we have been preaching about prayer for the past several weeks.

What can one person do? Pray! We always have that resource so use it, develop it, and expand its use.

Harvest Festival Update

This Saturday, October 31, we are having our annual Harvest Festival. The goal of this activity is to provide a safe place with a positive atmosphere for children. We also want to use this ministry to reach out to our community and show the love of Jesus Christ. The evening includes games and food.

This year we are including hot dogs and chips. The Harvest Festival runs from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. We are still in need of candy and could always use more volunteers. Please pray for this year's activity.

Crippled, But How Did It Happen?

We have been studying the Lord’s Prayer in our Sunday services. It is really a model prayer or a form to follow when we pray, given to us by the Master Teacher, Jesus. To follow this model for prayer requires the strenuous task of rearranging how many of us practice prayer. Personally, as I have studied this prayer model, I have had to restructure much of what I normally think and say in my prayers.

The next portion of the prayer deals with forgiving others. This is difficult because of our own human nature, the philosophy of our culture, and a desire to be the judge rather than allowing God to do that task. I have labored with a matter that happened years ago that hurt me and my family. But to hang on to such a matter is to mistrust God and continue to suffer internally, missing a sense of contentment that leads to deeper happiness.

Psychologists are studying what makes people happy. "Materialism is toxic for happiness," says University of Illinois psychologist Ed Diener. Even rich materialists aren’t as happy as those who care less about getting and spending. The article also quoted University of Michigan psychologist Christopher Peterson, who indicated forgiveness is the trait most strongly linked to happiness. Peterson said, "It’s the queen of all virtues, and probably the hardest to come by."

This Sunday we want to view the benefits of this part of the prayer. Jesus knew how much we would all need to comprehend this truth to climb over this barrier and experience greater joy.

Mizpah Update

We have finished an exciting summer at Mizpah and look forward to a great winter. I appreciate the many people of Hannaford who have given of their time to make improvements and cover some of the maintenance needs of the camp. This summer we were able to make improvements on three of the cabins, work on the boardwalk, and stain the cabins. We also had a lot of clean up that was done.

There were four camps and several retreats over the last four months. Hannaford’s Junior Camp (grades 4-7) had 28 campers and 11 staff. We had a great camp and an enjoyable time of learning about God and His Word.

Besides the winter events, we have a large winter project in the works. In the last couple of days we have made progress in the engineering for the septic and water system at Mizpah. We are working with an engineer out of Great Falls, and we trust that we will have everything permitted by next spring. Our goal is to work at installation next spring and summer.

Please pray for the ministry of Mizpah. We look forward to God’s continued work through this ministry.

Jesus Didn't Go to Church. Why Should I?

You rarely or never hear this logic because the church was not birthed until after Jesus left the earth. As silly as such an excuse would be, some reasoning for not attending church is just as illogical.

So what is the big deal about going to church? After all isn't it is just some human institution? No, the church was and is God’s idea! In fact Jesus did some pre-church teaching about that. It then became part of His plan for man (Matthew 16:18; 18:15-17).

God knew that humans need an accountability structure. In a bulk of the Old Testament the Lord established a system called the Law, given to Moses. That system had over 3,000 laws by which the followers of God were expected to follow. God knows that if we are left to our own self-imposed disciplines, we will slide to comfortable levels far below what the Lord would want of us.

Some people meet in homes for Bible study and call it a church. That does not constitute a church unless expected guidelines for a church found in the Bible are met. These are quite specific and really outline a structure of disciplines. Group Bible study can be very productive, and I encourage it. However, it is not a substitute for church in the light of what Scripture spells out.

Even more serious are the excuses of home repair, family recreation day, company came over, or I just don’t get much out of church. These statements are often given to explain why one fails to bring their family to church. These will be shaky foundations to stand upon when we face Christ on the final Day of Judgment.

Church is not man’s idea; and it is not always comfortable or entertaining, but God knows all believers need it. And if the institution of the church was in place when Jesus was on earth, HE would have been consistently in church. Can we get by with less? You will have to answer that question yourself.

Making Educational Choices for Your Children

We believe that God has given the responsibility for the education of children to parents. As a church, we desire to come alongside parents and support you as you prayerfully and diligently seek God’s will for your family.

Those of you who choose to work in the public schools or to send your children to the public schools, I support your decision. You have a great mission field before you, and I pray God uses you to do great things to further His kingdom.

Those of you who have chosen to home school your children, I have great admiration for you and the awesome task you have taken on. We have many families in our church who have chosen this option and do a very good job of it.

If you have been in our church for any length of time, you know that, as a church, we support Christian education. We started Rocky Mountain Christian High School (later became Helena Christian High School) because we believed and still believe our community needed a Christian school. If you have chosen that option for your family, we realize the sacrifices you make to send your children to a Christian school. We support you in your decision.

Last week’s message was given by one who believes in Christians being a light in the public school and appeared to promote one method of education over the other two choices. It is not our desire or job as a church to tell parents what God’s will is for their families, but rather to preach the truth of God’s Word and to let the Holy Spirit work in your lives and lead you to make godly choices.

Some have asked me where I stand on Christian education. I would think anyone who has heard my sermons over the years would know that answer. Anyone who knows my educational background should know that I have both a master’s degree and a doctorate in Christian education. Of further importance, I have started two Christian schools and been heavily involved in starting a third school. I served as a consultant for several Christian schools in Minnesota. I support Christian education, but will not condemn Christians who are teaching in public schools or send their children to public schools.

We all need prayer and mutual support as we raise our children.

Take a Vacation to Recharge

Vacations are great and, in fact, I think they are necessary. Jesus often broke away from the disciples and crowds to pray and refresh. I hope that everyone in the church has had or can have a vacation break this summer. It seems that breaking one's routine has an effect to then refocus one's current life. That usually allows us to make adjustments to accomplish previous goals that somehow became derailed in our daily grind.

There is always a bit of a slowdown in the church during normal summers. This year is an exception. We have had a busy summer; and, generally, the church attendances have been higher than normal. I think these facts are all pretty cool. Here are some things I have observed this summer.

Thursday night church. These services have averaged over 50 people per evening. We have had a variety of musicians leading these church services and a wide variety of men preaching. Actually over the summer we will have eight different speakers.
Junior Camp. Now every summer we have Junior Camp and other camping programs. The difference this summer is that we are conducting camp at our very own camping facilities at Mizpah Christian Retreat near White Sulphur Springs. What a great opportunity this facility brings to the ministry of Hannaford Street.
Worship Pastor Search. This is not a new occurrence. We have had to seek new staff people before. These are always exciting times and trying times. It is a very taxing process to locate people and do the searching necessary to find what you hope will be the right person. This weekend we have a man and his wife coming to look at us and we at them. Jonathan and Julia Wimp will be here Thursday; Jonathan will lead worship on Sunday morning. Don’t miss church this week. This may be the week that we add a new worship pastor.
Last Sunday 13 people were baptized in Hauser Lake.

There are other items that I could list, but you get the idea that the church has not really had a vacation this summer. I think it is a good thing. Enjoy your vacation, and then get back to your church to be a part of all that God is doing.

There is No Excuse—is There?

In the United States 100 million people don’t go to church at all. It is predicted that in 2050 ten percent will attend! This is a scary statistic. I believe that many of the problems that America is currently experiencing flow from a nation that is ignoring or overlooking the importance of God. Many believe in God, but are increasingly devaluing the importance of His church. The church was God’s idea not man’s invention.

If you have been listening to what I have been saying or writing recently, you will recognize a theme. I have been reminding the people of Hannaford about the importance of being faithful in church. This has very little to do with the fact that I pastor the church. It would appear to some that I am just trying to keep the church building full. I would enjoy that; however, it goes beyond that.

To have a healthy church, you need healthy Christians. It is virtually impossible for a person to be spiritually healthy without the constant benefits that a church offers. I am concerned about spiritual health.

When you look through the Bible, you should notice a familiar theme in the New Testament. The book of Romans was written to the church in Rome. Galatians was written to the churches in Galicia. I & II Corinthians were written to the church in Corinth. Ephesians was written to the church in Ephesus. Philippians was written to the church in Philippi.

You get the idea. A good portion of the New Testament was written to churches. There must have been a reason for that or God would not have spent so much of the Bible talking about the institution of the church.

Why is the church so important? The church matters to God...
• because it is made up of people that matter to God.
• because it is the earthly manifestation of His presence.
• because it is a crucial part of His plan for this world.
• because it is His place for us to grow and mature in our faith.

The church is the place designed by God for His people to grow together in their faith. We need each other.

With two church services on Sunday and one on Thursday night, there are very few reasons why everyone cannot attend church on a weekly basis this summer. It is important for you and for the church.

The Church is Community

One problem of Christianity in 2009 is the failure to see the value a specific church offers to an individual person. Biblically, the church is not a part of the cultural community. It’s a whole new community. Recognizing the value of that community to its fullest will bring home the truth that Christians cannot achieve or maintain spiritual health apart from dedicated involvement in a church.

A believer receives great value in the support received from other believers who hold the same values. People of similar principles serve to strengthen each other’s resolve. That is an extremely valuable community.

Rick Warren states in his book, The Purpose Driven Life - 40 Days of Purpose, pg. 130, “You are called to belong, not just believe. Even in the perfect, sinless environment of Eden, God said, 'It is not good for man to be alone.' We are created for community, fashioned for fellowship, and formed for a family, and none of us can fulfill God’s purpose by ourselves.”

He goes on to say on page 132, “The Bible knows nothing of solitary saints or spiritual hermits isolated from other believers and deprived of fellowship. Except for a few important instances referring to all believers throughout history, almost every time the word church is used in the Bible it refers to a local, visible congregation. The New Testament assumes membership in a local congregation. The only Christians not members of a local fellowship were those under church discipline who had been removed from the fellowship because of gross public sin.” (I Cor. 5:1-13; Gal. 6:1-5)

The question then, in my view, should not be, Why be part of a church? but instead Shouldn’t I make sure to be a faith part of such a caring community?

This is one reason we have begun at Hannaford a Thursday night church service. Each Thursday at 6:30 pm, we shall conduct a church service for those who would be unable to come on Sunday morning. In my opinion Sundays are best, but sometimes Thursdays will be the only option. We expect to see summertime church attendances soar, not subside.

Be Better Than Average

There is currently a debate as to whether America is today a Christian nation. Some think we are not a Christian nation based on the behaviors of the culture. Consider that fewer people than ever, on a percentage basis, are attending church. The Bible and anyone who defends or claims to live by its principles are viewed as peculiar. It seems to me that immorality is daily pushing the envelope painting modesty and decency in a negative light.

I’ve been on this planet for over six decades so I have witnessed what America used to be and what it has become. Our nation broadly disregards the holiness of God.

Whose fault is this? I don’t want to blame the church, individuals, or Christians for the behavior of the culture. What concerns me most is the approach many Christians are taking toward their own spiritual walk. Let me express some current attitudes and decisions that I see American Christians making which are detrimental to their walk with God. These are red flags as I see them. These are issues that keep people out of church. It is not that I am a pastor whining over lower church attendances; on the contrary Hannaford’s attendances are at an all-time high. I just care for the spiritual health of believers. I see misplaced priorities.

1. Kid’s sports! Many of these are scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays. Parents and children travel to various locations and have essentially replaced family worship for family sports.

2. Camping! Under the guise of family time some people spend every weekend at the lake. I am sure it is relaxing, but God doesn’t take three months off in His care for us. Campers, we are beginning a Thursday evening church service on June 4; now you can bring your family to church.

3. Weekend projects! Some feel it is justified to spent time on the house arguing that this activity is being good steward of the material God has given them. Don’t try to manipulate God.

4. Company! Everyone in Montana gets company in the summer. They would be more impressed by your loyalty to God than skipping church.

Now this may sound like excessive ranting, but I wonder if God would take my view or the practices of the matters listed above. I say this to encourage you not to become an average American Christian, but to honor the holiness of God and place Him above all other things during our short trip on this earth. Be better than average!

Things Going on Under the Snow

The winter at Mizpah is known for lots of snow along with many great winter activities. Not a lot of work (other than plowing snow) can take place. However, things have been happening. A large project that is in process is the water and septic system. We continue to work on the engineering. With the addition of the lodge, the required system is very large and there are many hurdles to overcome. Progress is being made, but there is a lot left to do. We are thankful for a group of volunteers who have put in countless hours on this project. There is a need for an engineer with a PE stamp to help. We are hopeful that we will be able to get the permits in the next few months and begin installation as the funds are available.

Another winter (spring) project is the revamped website. We ask for your patience as we work on it. The new Mizpah website will give current information and forms along with helpful links. Keep checking the website to see the new look coming in the near future.

There have also been numerous small projects going on. We look forward to a busy summer, both in work projects and groups using the facility. A workday is scheduled for June 20th. There are many projects to be completed. There will be projects for skilled and unskilled laborers. Please consider lending a hand. Lunch will be provided. We ask that you RSVP 449-2273 to help us with lunch and project planning.

An open house will be held at Mizpah on Saturday, August 22, from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Come have a chance to enjoy some great food and to look at the facilities of Mizpah including the new lodge.

Easter Opportunities

The Easter season serves well to remind us of the high price Jesus paid to provide salvation for us. This is an important time of celebration for Christians around the world.

Not only do committed Christians hold Easter as significant, but those who rarely attend church do so as well. This is a great opportunity for believers to invite their non-Christian friends to church. The response is usually favorable, so we ought to take advantage of this opportunity.

I encourage you to make a mental list of people you know, pray about inviting them, and then extend the invitation. Every time a person is exposed to the preaching of the Word, that message can do a deeper work in their hearts.

Mizpah Camp Update

Mizpah is finishing a busy winter. The month of February included three weekend ski trips and lots of snow. The next several months are filling up fast. We have two retreats scheduled in May and June, July, and August have many camps and retreats in place.

It is difficult to do a great amount of work during the heavy snows of winter, but there has been a great amount of planning going on. Please pray for progress in our water and septic permitting. We have had several people who have put an incredible amount of hours in designing the system and preparing it for submission.

Several work days are being scheduled for the summer and fall. Also, mark your calendar for August 22—the tentative date of our open house. More details will follow.

From Where I Sit

From where I sit in my church office I see a good deal of what God is doing in this church. I cannot see everything; but from what I do observe, I see God working in wonderful ways. I want to share some of these blessing with you.

From where I sit, I see the hand of God blessing a number of ministries. I believe this stems from 225 people who have volunteered to pray. They pray for requests which are emailed weekly to them; they pray for at least five minutes per day.

From where I sit, I have seen several people respond to the invitation to receive Christ recently. Many of these are young people who are seeking for spiritual meaning in their lives.

From where I sit, I am excited about several ministries in the church but two of the men's ministries have captured my attention recently—the Battle Zone discipleship ministry and the Outdoorsmen ministry. The Outdoorsmen ministry has two weekly Bible studies for men; it’s not just chasing elk and shooting ducks. It’s important to me to see men in the Word of God.

From where I sit, the Externally Focused ministries are developing and impacting our city. Open Arms, Feed the Homeless and Food for Stewart Homes are three that currently jump out. I know MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) has a pending project, and others are soon to be launched.

From where I sit, Mizpah Christian Retreat has great potential to impact not only our church and city but also regionally. Eventually even a wider scope of people will be reached for Christ.

From where I sit, I see that despite the cold temperatures and more typical Montana winter our church attendances are at an all time high. During the months of December and January, the weekly attendances and offerings have been outstanding. Praise God!

From where I sit, I believe this is occurring because over 200 people are praying every week for God to put His hand on this—His ministry. Praise Him!

Do You Have Computer Skills?

Are you comfortable on the computer? Looking for a way to get involved at Hannaford?

We need people to help weekly online and Sunday Worship preparation. If you like blogs or using PowerPoint, it should be easy.

SUNDAY WORSHIP PREPARATION
What this involves ... Prepare MediaShout "scripts" (a.k.a. files) for weekly worship. You would assemble moving backgrounds, still backgrounds, song lyrics, and other items from existing sources. Use the weekly order of worship for guidance. Must be prepared on Hannaford Worship Center computer. Photoshop and design skills a plus, but not necessary.

How this is done ... Take the existing MediaShout "script" from the previous week as a template. Add and arrange worship elements from this new week's order of worship. May involve adding a new song to existing song database, but most songs already exist. Select appropriate section headers for different worship elements.

ONLINE WEBSITE UPDATES
What this involves ... Add weekly information to website using any web browser (home computer okay). Consult the weekly bulletin and Hannaford office for source information. Basic writing and research skills needed. Basic understanding of online tools helpful (such as experience posting info on a blog). Photoshop and image manipulation skills a plus, but not necessary.

How this is done ... Highlight new items and events in bulletin and transfer the Home page and What's New page on the Hannaford website. Log into website using password. Type in text and select images from existing database. May involve finding and adding new images from Google Images from time to time. If you've ever maintained or published a blog, the process is similar.

Editing Your Life

I write articles, letters, and church blogs. When my documents hit the office for publishing, they often get enhanced or edited. It is a polite way of editing the mistakes I make.

It would be nice if everything I say or do could be edited before I would say or do them. I would offend less people, make fewer mistakes, and be much more effective in my life. This concept is not possible, but it does remind me that some self-editing would be helpful.

So how can we edit our lives? Wouldn't it be helpful if we would slow down a bit in life? If we would weigh what we are going to say rather than blurting out the first thing we think of, we would be kinder and more effective people. If we more carefully thought about the outcome of our impending actions, I think our lives would contain less regret.

I think if we would be more thoughtful before we act or speak, our communication would be more useful.

Here is the challenge. See if you can react more slowly and thoughtfully for one day. At the end of the day review how well you did. Then try to repeat that feat for a second day.

Who knows—you might make considerable progress in becoming more likeable, effective, and have a life with less stress?

Most Christians struggle in sharing their faith with others. Here at Hannaford, we have a tool that will help you easily introduce your friends, family, and co-workers to the message of Jesus Christ. It is called Christmas Dessert Theater.

On December 4-6 you can invite your friends to a dessert theater at Hannaford. The cost is $7 per person.

Thursday and Friday evenings at 6:30pm the auditorium will be set up as a dessert theater. It will be beautifully decorated, both the room and the tables. You will be served a beverage and then enjoy a superb play called Doc's Holiday (see synopsis here). The Christmas comedy will approach the message of Christmas which is all about Jesus. Then mid-way through the play, dessert will be served. The desserts are very tasty!

This is a wonderful time to dress up and bring your friends. Perhaps after the presentation an opportunity to talk about the message of the play will arise. We encourage you to purchase tickets for your neighbors and friends. Tell them you have tickets for them and encourage them to sit with you in one of the evening presentations. The Saturday matinee, which is at 1:30pm, is also open to children.

Please don't miss this great opportunity to reach out to friends you have who don't know Jesus.

DIALOGUE for 20s and 30s

At Hannaford, we're exploring how we can better provide young people with opportunities to explore faith, worship together, grow spiritually, and to meet socially. As part of this effort, we're holding an initial meeting and Bible study we're calling DIALOGUE for those in their 20s and 30s.

It's happening this Saturday, November 22 @ 6:00pm and it will be an opportunity to have some food, meet people, study the Bible, and to talk more about how to best connect young adults into life at Hannaford.

Angel Tree 2008

Angel Tree is a ministry of Prison Fellowship that reaches out to the children of inmates with the love of Christ. In Matthew 18:5 Jesus said, "Whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me."

Around Christmas, we at Hannaford are given the opportunity to purchase and deliver gifts to the children of inmates in their parent’s name. Through Angel Tree, these children feel a parent’s love, despite their absence. Each gift delivery also presents an opportunity to share the love and hope of Christ with each family. Advent: The Hope & Anticipation of Christ

The observance of Advent candle lighting is an important one for worshiping congregations. It helps foster the anticipation of Christmas, not simply for the giving and getting of gifts, but for the anticipation of the coming return of Christ.

The word 'Advent' itself, is defined as "The arrival of something or someone important or awaited." An important aspect of observing Advent is to connect the experiences of ancient God-followers with ours today. Using the themes of Hope, Peace, Joy, Love, and Light, we will attempt to look back to those who anticipated Jesus' coming as well as hope for His coming return.

HOPE in Christ (November 30) - Like God's people centuries ago, we also look forward with HOPE and anticipation to the coming of the Christ.

PEACE in Christ (December 7) - Through long generations, God prepared a way in our world for the coming of His Son, and is still bringing peace to darkened lives. Jesus is our Peace. Jesus – The Prince of peace.

JOY in Christ (December 14) - We know that when Jesus was born in Bethlehem, the angels brought "good news of a great joy, which shall be to all people." The good news of Jesus' birth and the promise of peace are still "tidings of great joy" for us today…not only because Christ came, but also because He is still here.

LOVE of Christ (December 21) - We ask God to give us such love and wonder, that with shepherds and wise men and pilgrims unknown, we may come to adore the holy child, the promised King; and with our gifts worship him, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

LIGHT of the World (Christmas Eve) - Christ has made God known to us, and He makes us known to God. He can make the darkness and the despair of our lives shine like day. He is the Light of the world, the dawning of a new day.

It is our prayer that all people would experience the anticipation and hope of Christ this Christmas season; that you and I, like generations before, would find hope, peace, joy, and love through Jesus, who is the Light of the world.

Which Way Are You Running?

Life is about movement even if you feel you are standing still. This is especially true in your spiritual journey. Believers are running with God, away from God, or running back to God.

A man in Old Testament times named Jonah ran in all three of these directions. In Jonah 1:2 God told Jonah to carry the message of repentance to his enemies. But notice in verse 3, Jonah went in the opposite direction toward a city called Tarshish. Jonah’s choice demonstrated that he was running away from God. That action carried severe consequences.

We can make the same choices without literally moving to another location. For example, when we sense an internal urge from God to help someone, speak to someone, attend a Bible study, or go to church, we resist God like Jonah did. Opposing that convicting reminder in our minds is no different than what Jonah did. We, too, are then running away from God.

In Jonah 3:3 we see a 180 degree change of direction. Of course this was after the terrible experience with the whale for three days. Jonah then ran to God. But the fruit of his disobedience brought some miserable experiences into his life. We, too, can similarly expect God’s lack of appreciation when we back away from His calls for obedience.

Then finally, in Jonah 3:4 and following, we see Jonah running with God. He was then obedient; and as a result, God used Jonah and hundreds of people turn to the Lord.

Yes, we are all moving! Make that movement toward or with God. Listen carefully to that voice, that urging, that internal conviction to do the things that please God. Then walk in concert with that voice of God. Running with God is much more pleasant and fruitful that running according to the voice of selfishness.

Mizpah Christian Retreat
There is some news about Camp Mizpah. After nearly four months of negotiations we appear on the threshold of becoming the owners of a mountain retreat center. If God opens this door to us, we will have the responsibility of a whole new ministry. It will require much prayer, finances, physical work, and planning. But it will be exciting! Pray for God's hand in these next few days.

Christmas Dessert Theater
We still need people to step forward to help with the Christmas Dessert. Volunteers are needed to help in a variety of ways, one of which is acting in the play that is presented. This is a great outreach event. Don't under sell your ability to help in this ministry. Contact the church office (449-2273) today and volunteer.

Five Reasons to Be a Member at Hannaford?

There is a wide variety of opinion when the subject of church membership is mentioned. Some churches don't have membership at all because they believe it is unbiblical. Others believe that salvation itself depends on being a member.

The Bible doesn't say "Thou shall or shall not become a church member." The Bible does tell us to be involved in a local church. Here are some reasons to be a member:

Membership allows a person to have a sense of belonging and fellowship in a church.
Organizations rely on membership numbers in making financial commitments.
Membership consists of agreeing with the church you attend and their view on doctrine, salvation, and other essential items.
Membership gives laity a voice in making decisions about the church at meetings.
Becoming a member provides a measure of two-way accountability between both an individual and the church leadership

Every church has guidelines in place on what its membership regulates. Here at Hannaford, a member votes to approve the annual budget and on delegates for board positions. Jesus as Worshipper

If Jesus truly is the model we seek to imitate, then how Jesus worshipped should give us insight into how we, too, can worship our Father in heaven. As Chris Jack* reminds us, we know that Jesus was a Jew - and as such, He worshiped as a good Jew. "Jesus worshipped according to the established Jewish patterns and practices of his day."

Have you ever considered how Jesus worshipped? Why or why not? Should Jesus be our model for some things and not others?

HOW DID JESUS MODEL WORSHIP?
Chris Jack lists a number of scriptures that give us evidence that Jesus followed the Jewish practices of the day. Circumcision, temple and synagogue attendance are just a few examples. But I think the most important model of worship Jesus gave us is this: Jesus lived his life in complete submission and obedience to the Father. In that, Jesus was a model worshipper.

How are you doing in your submission and obedience to the Father? Are you a model worshipper? Are there areas that you are holding back from God? How about in gathered worship - are you completly surrendered to God among your brothers and sisters in Christ?

JESUS IS THE TRUE WORSHIPPER
Not only was Jesus a model worshipper, He was the one totally true worshipper - and more! "As the ultimate sacrifice for sin ... Jesus becomes the means of worship, the One through whom worship is to be offered." He makes true worship possible for us all. Praise God!

UPDATE: Two New Ministry Opportunities

We wrote in our last newsletter about the possibility of buying the house on Missoula Avenue, just west of the church. We also told you about the offer from the Mizpah Christian Retreat board to have us gradually assume ownership the camp.

To update you on these, our bid on the house was accepted. Later this month we will sign the papers. We now own the house. It is a great blessing because we need the land for future growth.

As for the Mizpah Retreat, the proposal is still in negotiations. Please pray for God's will in that matter.

Hannaford@Home Small Groups

Some like small churches for fellowship and a sense of belonging. Yet, others prefer larger churches with all their ministries and programs they offer. Did you know you can have the best of both? This apparent dilemma can be overcome through our home fellowship groups.

Hannaford@Home small group ministry makes our “large” church feel “small” at the same time. These groups average about 10 people. Currently we have several fellowship groups meeting throughout the Helena area. Not only will you gain closer friendships in a home fellowship, you will also grow spiritually.

We have a variety of different groups that will be starting soon. Many of the Hannaford@Home groups stop meeting during the summer and begin to meet again in September. Some even offer childcare. Now is the time to plan on joining a group!

We plan on starting some new groups to join the existing fellowships this Fall. If you are interested in joining a group, offering a host home, or becoming group leader let us know! Contact Pastor Scott or give him a call at 449-2273 for more.

Israel in March 2009

A trip to Israel is planned for late March 2009. If you are interested in traveling the Holy Land, please contact Pastor Crosby; six days in Israel is ample time to see the land of Jesus.

The cost is $3,100, which includes everything but your noon meals. It is difficult to describe the impact that a visit to the land of the Bible has upon a person. Of course, people fear visiting that so called “hot spot,” but it is safer than visiting most larger cities in America.

I need to know your level of interest soon. I am not asking for a firm commitment at this time.

Two New Ministry Opportunities

The Lord has presented two potential opportunities to Hannaford Street Bible Church. Whether or not these ministry tools may be granted is entirely in His hands. We may be blessed with both, only one, or neither.

MIZPAH CHRISTIAN RETREAT
The first matter that we were approached about is Mizpah Christian Retreat, a Christian retreat camp close to Showdown ski resort located about 20 miles past White Sulphur Springs. We are in negotiations with the Mizpah board to arrive at an agreement concerning custodianship of the camp.

NEIGHBORING HOUSE PROPERTY
The second opportunity is the house and property just west of our Hannaford. The long-time resident recently passed away and we have been given the opportunity to bid on the house along with a few others. If we win the bod and are able to purchase that property, it would give us more space on this block for the future expansion we know we will need.

PLEASE PRAY FOR THESE OPPORTUNITIES
We encourage you to pray about both of these prospects. They are in the hands of God. If He opens the doors, I am confident that He will supply the wherewithal to move forward. Growing ministries are those that are willing to take risks. We want to reach all the people we can because the message we preach is important for all to hear.

Are You REALLY a Good Friend?

What is the best thing you could do for someone? Well, if that person is not a Christian, the best thing you could do is to tell them about Christ. If you won’t do that, perhaps you are not the friend you judge yourself to be. That is a harsh statement, but it is truth in the light of eternity.

I expect that every one of us has a friend who doesn’t know Christ as their Savior - that is a good thing. We need to have contact with people other than those in our Christian community. But having a friend who does not know Christ can present a big problem. We struggle for an acceptable approach to share the salvation story with them. We know the message, but fear their reaction and hope not to destroy the friendship.

Pray and ask for the right opportunity to share your faith, and then seize that opening to simply tell your story about Jesus.

When you do dare to share your faith, there are some things you might need to understand about our current culture. The message of Christ is the same, it never changes. However, the form in which it is given can be critical to its reception. Today, Christians need to show it, know it, and share it. To do that, we use terms like "movement rather than monuments," "speaking their language," and "because I said so doesn’t work."

Here are some thoughts that might be helpful for this process in 2008.

THEY SEE MOVEMENT, NOT MONUMENTS
For years, people of various religious persuasions have attempted to sway others to their way of thinking. This has caused many to be skeptical of any religious conversations. There is an saying, "Don’t talk about religion or politics" - this skepticism is perhaps stronger today than ever before. People today want time to evaluate. They possess a cautious attitude about most things, especially religion.

This is why living your faith, serving people, and starting a "movement" that demonstrates "love without words" is key. In the past, we were taught the importance of setting a good example as a Christian. While this is true, more is required today. To silently be a good person does not differentiate a good Christian from a good citizen. We were basically taught to be "monuments" of Christ instead of "movements" of Christ.

Today people are attracted to deliberate acts of kindness. Jesus said, "I have come to serve, not be served." When Christians intentionally become a servant, it triggers the curiosity of non-believers. They see something real, something that benefits mankind, and they want to know why. That "movement" opens the door to conversations about Christ. "Movement, not monuments" is required in these times to earn the right to be heard.

DO YOU SPEAK THEIR LANGUAGE
In order to be heard, it is important to understand the way people think in these days, especially many young people in their twenties. It is helpful to understand the thinking our culture. We have survived many broken systems in America. We have been influenced by a society that discredits the Bible. The general mistrust of authority and other factors are issues we need to understand when we ask them to believe in the invisible Christ.

We need to recognize where our friends are coming from in order to convince them that the Bible is true and reliable and that Christ is the only way to eternal life. The condemning message of "hell, fire, and brimstone," while essentially true, can drive our friends further from the truth, if presented without grace and love.

"BECAUSE I SAID SO" WON'T WORK
All parents have probably told their children at least once, "Do it because I said so." Years ago, people could quote Scripture passages and expect those words to be respected and obeyed. Not anymore! Apologetics is essential today to be able to effectively reason with people. They are skeptical of everything.

The culture of skepticism has created and sustained itself on multiple fronts. The news media is been cynical about everything and everyone, especially religious people and movements. Our educational system teaches to disbelieve first and to force proof. This is not all bad. As Christians, we should be able to effectively defend our positions. The Bible says to always be ready with an answer (1 Peter 3:15).

This is why Christians need to know their faith and be able to build a case for Christ more than ever before. If we expect an unsaved friend to believe our ideas just because we said so, it is not enough. You have to be able to effectively defend your position, and that may take a lot of time and a good deal of prayer.

SHOW IT, KNOW IT, SHARE IT
In the movie The Greatest Game Ever Played, a young golfer’s caddie said about putting, "See it, roll it, hole it."

Christians who have a friend who does not know Christ, need to "show it, know it, and share it." We need to show Christ through intentional acts of love. We need to know what we believe. And we need to be able to defend those beliefs. Then we can share that message when the opportunity comes our way.

This is REALLY being a good friend!

New Hannaford Email Addresses

The Hannaford website and email went through a big change last week - behind the scenes. For now, the only difference you may notice is that everyone here in the Hannaford office has a new email.

Each of our email addresses consists of our full first name and the initial of our last name. Then you add the hannaford.org (i.e. firstl@hannaford.org). We also have new email addresses for "office" and "coffeebreak." Also, know that the old email addresses still work, but will be phased out in the coming months. Now you know.

Investing Time in the Right Place

Building a strong relationship with someone requires the investment of time. We gladly devote that required time when we are attracted to someone due to some common appeal.

But what is the status of our relationship with God? Our depth of relationship with God hinges on much the same principle as with humans. The measure of time devoted to building a relationship with God will determine the strength of that bond. But that requires a serious investment of time. In America there are challenges to the pursuit of that required time.

It appears that many Americans simply have too much at their disposal to feel a genuine need for God other than the gift of salvation. They depend on medical facilities, financial institutions, abundant food sources, and transportation systems that are available to Americans. They can travel about quickly, eat all they want, borrow all the money they desire, and go to the doctor when they feel that need. Many Americans are so spoiled by “things” that they fail to recognize the need for a growing relationship with God. They don’t say it, but they don’t need God!

Another problem with our Christian culture springs from the developed appetite for instant gratification. So many 21st century Christians want someone to quickly and painlessly teach them about spiritual growth through a video or radio program. Or they may look for a brief short book that gives six simply keys to instant spiritual spirituality. They look for alternatives to the required time to dig into the Bible to find helpful truths for themselves. They don’t say it, but they don’t have time to discover God’s intentions.

In addition to neglecting the Word of God many Christians fail to seriously talk to God through prayer. It seems increasingly convenient to practice praying “on the run.” The current notion of prayer often follows the practices of whispering a prayer as they enter a meeting or quickly asking forgiveness for yelling at another motorist. This is the extent of their prayer life. When they think about a personal problem, it is often dealt with by means of a sentence prayer. Now praying throughout the day is a great and commendable practice. However, too many people neglect the “prayer closet” (Matthew 6:6) which involves extended blocks of time. These times really develop a deeper relationship with God. People don’t say it, but they don’t want to talk to God extensively.

Neglecting necessary time in the Bible and prayer is the sad, but in many cases true testimony of too many America Christians! Many of us need to ask for forgiveness and then scrap our current schedules and make a new schedule with “God time” set in first place. Intentional prolonged periods of time in the Word of God and in prayer conversation with God can transform our attitudes and relationship with God.

I suggest a study of the Bible that follows this pattern. Read a paragraph or two per sitting. With your Bible and notebook in hand; read the paragraph and answer three questions.

1) What?
2) So what?
3) Now what?

What does the paragraph say? So what does this mean to me? And Now what do I do today with what I just studied?

Don’t forget or neglect the importance of prayer coupled with Bible study. It can come before, after, or during the study. Practice thanksgiving--it reminds us of how God has worked, prayer is real, and God loves us. Build a relationship that transforms you into a tight friendship with God.

Are You An Inside-Out Worshiper?

I just finished reading Andy Stanley's Making Vision Stick. Among many others, he makes a great point about vision. Basically, if your vision isn't clear and concise, you can't effectively communicate it, much less embrace it and carry it out.

This is why we, in the worship ministry, have been discussing a simpler vision and how we can better embrace, communicate, and live it out - both inside and outside Hannaford.

We've reduced our worship ministry vision - our goal - down to this simple statement: "To do anything we can to encourage inside-out worship with everyone we meet." It's not complete. it doesn't explain everything. But it puts our main goal right out front.

Here are some basic thoughts behind inside-out worship:

If our worship does not begin on the inside, then it's really not the worship that Jesus talks about when He says, "True worshipers worship the Father in spirit and truth." (John 4:23-24)
If our worship is only on the inside, is it really true worship? Especially when we believe God's word is true when He says that "From the overflow of our heart, the mouth speaks." (Matthew 12:34, Luke 6:45)
Then finally, if our worship is only on the outside then it's more like "worshiping with our lips, when our hearts are far from Him." (Isaiah 29:13, Matthew 5:8, Mark 7:6)

Children's Summer Activities

Summer is a busy time for our Children's Ministry. There is great excitement as our children learn more about God:

Power Lab Vacation Bible School (VBS) runs Monday-Friday, June 9-13. From 9:30am to 12 noon each day, kids will learn how to discover Jesus' miraculous power.
Drama Camp begins July 14. Each morning children (grades 2+) experience the stage. The week concludes with the presentation of a musical on Friday afternoon. All are invited to attend the production.
Also, beginning this Sunday we have our special Summer Sunday School at 9:45am Sunday mornings. This summer we will travel through the armor of God. Make sure your children take this fun and interactive opportunity to grow.

Finally, we have some volunteer needs for the summer. Please consider giving a small amount of time to impact the lives of children. If you would consider giving a hand, please contact Pastor John (449-2273).

Do We Live Under a Basket?

How do people we live next to or work next to know we are Christians? How do people in Helena know what Hannaford teaches? Of course, they could ask us or attend. But why ask us as individuals or attend Hannaford? There are many people they could talk to and a host of churches in Helena that they could attend.

Perhaps as individuals and as a church we don’t demonstrate our faith in visible and attractive ways. Perhaps we do not let our light shine before men so that they see Christ through our actions. Instead, we hide our faith under a basket. (Matthew 5:15)

If we hope to be heard by people who don’t know Christ as their Savior, we need to give them a reason to listen. When we stop and study the current mind-set of America, we see people who question everything. That’s not all bad; it should prompt us to be more intentional as image bearers of Christ. How do we do that?

It might be of great value to explore these thoughts and evaluate how we could be more effective in sharing our faith. This is a challenge the pastoral staff has been studying, discussing, and praying about for several months. We are convinced that as an entire church community we can demonstrate Christ in more effective ways. That is our goal, and we intend to share some of those ideas in the coming days.

July 11-12. A conference on the BattleZONE men’s discipleship program presented by Mike Pouliot and one of the top leaders in Promise Keepers.

25-Year Anniversary
August 10. Pastor Crosby and Carol hope that everyone will attend this Sunday. On their first Sunday 25 years ago, 27 people were in attendance. It would be great to top that by 500 or more.

2008 Hannford Fall Conference
September 28-30. Ken Hutcherson, former professional football player and a great speaker; Mark Labberton, pastor and conference speaker from San Francisco who is a great communicator; and Darren Streblow, a very funny comedian will highlight this three-day conference.
